Also known as the Marriage & Fiance visa, the K-1 visa was created for the spouses and fiances of U.S. citizens.  It’s a nonimmigrant visa that provides a process for U.S. citizens to petition for their fiance to enter the United States for the purpose of marriage and eventually apply for permanent residency.
